Please join us at a gallery reception for visiting artist Lucia Monge’s exhibition “Against the Grain,” a sculptural installation focused on Amaranthus palmeri, a plant that some call a “superfood” and others a “superweed.” It has evolved to resist at least six herbicides used to support GMO monoculture. The installation sets a large-scale amaranth ovary against a homogeneous field of corn and soy, to explore classification, exploitation, and resistance.
