A standout student‑athlete at Saint Michael’s College, Falkenbush ranks second in Purple Knights men’s basketball history with 1,431 career points in just three seasons and still holds program records for points (51) and field goals (21) in a single game, along with a share of the free‑throw record. An All‑America selection as both a junior and senior, he helped lead Saint Michael’s to a fourth‑place national finish and two trips to the Sweet 16, before being selected in the 10th round of the 1967 NBA Draft by the St. Louis Hawks.
Beyond his collegiate success, Falkenbush devoted four decades to teaching and 35 years to coaching, including serving as the first varsity boys’ basketball head coach at Colchester High School and compiling 276 wins in 21 seasons at Burlington High School, highlighted by the 1995–96 Division I state title. He is also a founding force behind Mini‑Metro Basketball, one of Northern Vermont’s leading youth basketball development leagues.
Falkenbush joins a distinguished group of Saint Michael’s alumni and coaches in the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame, reflecting a legacy that extends far beyond the court.
