Chester “Chet” D. Menczywor, 85, passed away unexpectedly on January 6th, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on September 7th, 1940, in Adams, Massachusetts to the late Chester J. and Cecelia Zabek Menczywor. He attended local schools and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from St. Michael’s College in Vermont. He began his business career as a purchasing agent in the aerospace industry. Chet proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.

Married to then Mary Ann Kaldy in 1984, they resided in East Hartford for many years before moving to Columbia in 2001. Always active in sports, he enjoyed watching as well as playing basketball, softball, and golf with his friends and granddaughters.

Chet will be greatly missed, but always remembered with love, by his wife Mary Ann of Columbia; his stepson Justin and his wife Bridget Rose Kaldy of Columbia and their daughters Amber and Isabella Kaldy; his stepson James E Kaldy Ill and his wife Cheryl Brown and their daughter, Anastasia Kaldy of Oregon; his sister Judy Brown and her husband Gene Brown of Florida; his nieces Lynn Lucero and Kimberly Bailey; his nephew Christopher and wife Carol Bailey. Chet will be missed by friends and everyone who knew him.
