James H. Schweitzer ’75
James H. Schweitzer, Exton, PA, died June 18, 2023.
Born and raised in New Britain, CT, he was a graduate of New Britain High (class of 1971).
After majoring in business at Saint Michael’s, Jim completed a major data processing program at Hartford State Technical College in Connecticut in 1981 and managed a Getty gas station before working from 1981-1987 for the State of Connecticut Department of Income Maintenance as an eligibility program interviewer and child support investigator.
Jim later furthered his education with various concentrated classes related to computer science and project management at The Hartford Graduate Center.
From 1987 to1997 he worked as a systems developer for the Connecticut Department of Transportation/Office of Information Systems in Newington, CT. From 1997 to 2000 he was a programmer/analyst for Advest, Inc., in Hartford while also working for Beta One Research in Farmington, CT, on business marketing surveys.
From 1997 to 1999 Jim sold commercial, residential and rental real estate in central Connecticut with Century 21. He worked as lead programmer/analyst with NASDAW Stock Exchange in Trumbull, CT for two years after that before starting his own web site design company, Homerundesigns.com, and then spent several years selling Minolta copiers, printers, faxes and businesses in his region.
Jim and his family eventually moved in 2004 to Pennsylvania where he worked for many years and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare. He always enjoyed his job.
In his free time, Jim liked working on cars, bowling, gardening, playing tennis, and watching sports on TV. He was a big New England Patriots and New York Yankees fan. He also enjoyed going on day trips and taking vacations with his family.
A daughter and two sons predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Susan, a son, a daughter, a brother, two sisters and extended family.
