James Lawrence Mooney Jr., of Ridgewood, NJ, passed away on December 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 24, 1961, Jim lived a life defined by integrity, hard work, and deep love for his family and community.

A longtime and cherished member of the Ridgewood community and the New York/New Jersey construction community, Jim was widely respected not only for his expertise, but for his fairness, determination, and genuine kindness. He had a way of making people feel seen and valued, and he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Jim was a devoted husband to his wife, Susan Mooney, and a proud father to his sons, Jimmy (Lisa) and Patrick Mooney, and his daughter, Katie Altieri (David). He found his greatest joy in his three beloved grandchildren, Caroline, Maddie, and Olivia Altieri. Jim is also survived by his mother, Doris Mooney, and his sister, Julia Goulding (Bernard). He was predeceased by his father, James Mooney Sr., and his sister, Mary Mooney.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim’s memory to his alma mater, Saint Michael’s College in Vermont.

Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his strength, compassion, unwavering determination, and wry sense of humor that could bring a smile even in the hardest moments.
