Kevin Kearney, Clinton, NY, died June 10, 2023. Kevin was one of five brothers and sisters raised in Woodside Queens, NY, and he studied social work while at Saint Michael’s.

Kevin began his career working for the NYS Division of Parole in Queens, moving to Rochester, NY, to continue that work. He and his wife, Ann, moved the family to Utica in 1960 where he took over the NYS Division of Parole Field Office. He joined a new State Agency, Mental Health Legal Services (MHLS) in 1964, as supervisor of the Utica office. He and Ann were active in their local parish and the Irish community.

The family moved to Rochester, NY when he was promoted to Director of MHLS 4th Judicial District in 1977. During his years in Rochester, Kevin was on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, led AOH Division 2, was on the planning committee for the Rochester Feis, and competed in Irish dancing.

After retiring in 1987, Kevin and Ann built their retirement home in Clinton and again immersed themselves in serving the local community. Kevin was active in St. Mary’s Parish Council, served on the Board of Directors for Catholic Charities and Compeer Utica, was a charter member and past president of the local John C. Devereux Division #1 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 1997, and ran the campgrounds for the annual Great American Irish Festival for many years. He continued to teach Irish dancing into his late 80s. In the 1980s he was a Shield Club/Founders Club supporter of the College.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann, a son, two daughters, two sisters and extended family. His late cousin was James Kearney ’43.
