William S. Carroll ’56
William S. Carroll, Holyoke, MA, died November 14, 2023. Bill was educated in Springfield parochial schools including Cathedral High School, before coming to Saint Michael’s and majoring in economics. Bill was an Army veteran, serving in the First Cavalry Division from 1957 to 1961 and performing counterintelligence duties in Korea among other assignments.
He was a longtime plant manager for several paper companies including Graham Manufacturing, and later was co-owner and founder of NRG Manufacturing. He also worked as a general manager for Bartlett Business Forms (A.H. Bartlett Co.) in Ludlow, MA.
After retirement, Bill worked for WestMass ElderCare for over two decades. He enjoyed travel and visited all 50 states as well as numerous European destinations. He was active in his Holyoke Catholic parish and a longtime member of the Holyoke Canoe Club and Military Intelligence Association of New England.
Bill’s wife Filomena R. (“Sandy”) died in 1997, and a daughter predeceased him. He is survived by a son and extended family.
