Anthony “Tony” Maginnis, class of 1980, is honored as alumnus of the year in recognition of his remarkable professional accomplishments, visionary leadership, and generous philanthropy. A proud and dedicated member of the Society of Mont Saint Michel, Tony has contributed over $250,000 in philanthropic support to the college, helping to advance the mission and enrich the experience of Saint Michael’s students across generations. His generosity is not only financial but also deeply personal, rooted in a genuine affection for the institution that shaped his life and career.
Tony’s entrepreneurial path began in 1985, when he acquired a small graphic arts business and set out to transform it with vision and determination. Over the decades, he has built that business into global packaging, a leading company in the flexible packaging printing industry. Under his leadership as CEO, global packaging has grown to serve major North American markets, earning a reputation for innovation, quality, and reliability. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on the industry and provided countless jobs in the Colchester, VT community.
Beyond his business success, Tony has been a tireless champion for Saint Michael’s. He served with distinction on the board of trustees from 2014 to 2023, lending his expertise to guide the college through times of growth and challenge. His strategic insights and steadfast dedication helped shape key initiatives that will benefit students for years to come. Additionally, Tony has been a passionate volunteer on multiple reunion committees, helping to foster lifelong connections and a vibrant alumni community.
Tony often speaks with heartfelt pride about the influence of his St. Mike’s classmates, the grounding he received through the college’s Catholic and Edmundite traditions, and the natural beauty of the Winooski River and Burlington area that he calls home.
