Brian Langenfeld ’95
We honor Brian Langenfeld, class of 1995 as alumnus of the year for his outstanding professional achievements, dedicated service to Saint Michael’s College, and steadfast commitment to empowering student success.
As Vice President and managing counsel for MFS Investment Management, a globally respected investment firm, Brian exemplifies the highest standards of integrity, strategic leadership, and legal expertise. His role demands navigating complex regulatory landscapes and providing sound counsel that supports the firm’s global operations—an endeavor he approaches with unwavering dedication, sharp insight, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Brian’s impact extends far beyond his professional accomplishments. His devotion to Saint Michael’s is equally remarkable and deeply felt throughout the college community. He has served on the alumni board of directors since 2023 and was recently elected vice president, reflecting the trust his fellow alumni place in his leadership, vision, and deep commitment to the mission of the college. He also served on the class of ’95 reunion committee this year, contributing his time and energy to reconnecting and strengthening alumni bonds.
A cornerstone of Saint Michael’s career development programming, Brian has been instrumental in creating opportunities that connect students and alumni with the professional world. He organizes and hosts key Boston-based events, including welcoming Student Investment Fund (SIF) participants to MFS headquarters this past April – providing invaluable real-world exposure and mentorship. He even volun-told other St. Mike’s alumni at MFS to participate in various panel discussions that he set up for the SIF visit.
Brian consistently engages with the Purple Knight community both on and off campus—whether through 1:1 connections, events such as career connections, being a part of the career advisory network, or regional alumni gatherings. His commitment to service shines through in every interaction, as he continually finds meaningful ways to support, mentor, and uplift students and fellow alumni.
Additionally, as a former lacrosse player, Brian embodies the spirit of teamwork, loyalty, and generosity—values that have shaped his professional life and personal character and continue to resonate deeply within the SMC family.
In honoring Brian as alumnus of the year, we celebrate a distinguished professional and passionate mentor whose leadership, generosity, and dedication make a profound difference in the lives of students, alumni, and the broader Saint Michael’s community. His ongoing contributions exemplify the very best of what it means to be a Purple Knight—someone who leads with heart, inspires with action, and uplifts others every step of the way.
