As a biology major at Saint Michael’s, Pam’s passion for science was nurtured within the walls of Cheray Science Hall, where under the expert guidance of Professor John Hartnett, she developed the foundation for a remarkable academic and professional journey. Those formative years propelled her to earn a PhD in cellular and developmental biology from SUNY Stony Brook, followed by a highly competitive postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University—a testament to her intellectual rigor and dedication to advancing biomedical research.

Pam has spent her career at the cutting edge of biomedical discovery, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Most recently, she served as chief operating officer at isomorphic labs, a Google-affiliated company at the forefront of revolutionizing drug discovery through artificial intelligence. Now serving as a strategic advisor, Pam continues to shape the future of medicine by leveraging cutting-edge technology to accelerate breakthroughs that have the potential to transform countless lives.

Pam’s connection to Saint Michael’s runs deep and personal. She was inducted into the academic hall of fame in 2015, a fitting recognition of her outstanding achievements and the pride she carries for her alma mater. She has returned to campus to share her expertise and inspire the next generation of scientists, including a memorable talk titled “The Race to End Cancer” that captivated students and faculty alike. An active member of the career advisory network, Pam generously mentors students and young alumni, guiding them with wisdom, encouragement, and real-world insight.

Her family ties to Saint Michael’s extend across generations—she is the devoted daughter of James J. Carroll ’59, cousin to Robert I. Picher ’79, and remains a cherished mentee of Professor Hartnett. These connections reflect a legacy built on shared values, deep community bonds, and a lifelong commitment to personal and professional growth.

Through consistent philanthropic giving, academic engagement, and a distinguished career devoted to meaningful innovation, Pam embodies the highest ideals of what it means to be a Purple Knight.
