Freeman Foundation supports 18 St. Mike’s student internships in Asia during summer 2025

This summer, Saint Michael’s College will be sending a record-breaking 18 students to complete an eight-week internship abroad in either South Korea or Vietnam, thanks to a generous annual grant from the Freeman Foundation.

Saint Michael’s is one of only 33 colleges and universities in the U.S. to receive this annual, highly competitive grant. The Freeman Foundation grant supports the Global Citizenship International Internship Program, international internship experiences that build global competency and valuable workplace skills. 

This year, St. Mike’s received nearly double the number of student applications as last year, proving that interest in global learning is stronger than ever, said Institute for Global Engagement Director Jeffrey Ayres, a Professor of Political Science and International Relations. The College was also able to award the highest number of grants it has ever awarded this year.
