‘Saint Michael’s is a better place because of you’: Class of 2026 celebrated during Senior Awards Brunch

The Class of 2026 celebrated with heartfelt emotion and jubilation during this year’s Senior Awards Brunch – some of which was exuded by the proud faculty and staff who’ve journeyed with them these past four years.

The annual brunch in Alliot was an awards banquet during which a handful of students and student mentors were recognized, and all were lauded for their contributions and personal growth.

President Richard Plumb encouraged graduates to carry the close relationships they made at Saint Michael’s College with them

He reminded the graduates: “You chose St. Mike’s…and St. Mike’s chose you backSaint Michael’s is a better place because of you.”

Heidi St. Peter ’96, who was the class’s Purposeful Learning program director, offered remarks to the class, which ended up being the inaugural cohort for that program during the class’s first year. She cheekily praised them for their critiques of the program – being willing to advocate for change as they worked together to mold it into something meaningful, turning complaints into action.

She said the future doesn’t always unfold in an expected way, saying, “life will give you opportunities that surprise you…remind you what you’re capable of.”

One graduate, Nick Wracker ’26, received two awards but wasn’t present for the reading of the second one. He was demonstrating the very selflessness he was being awarded for, according to Dean of Students Dawn Ellinwood, by being there for a teammate in a time of need.

Senior Class president Ashley Silveira noted that while only a few received awards, all have had a profound impact on one another and the College. These were some of the qualities that distinguish the Class of 2026.

The Senior Awards Brunch is one of the major activities during senior week, culminating with Commencement on Sunday, May 10
