Edmundite Center for Faith and Culture

The Edmundite Center for Faith and Culture at Saint Michael’s advances the place of the Catholic tradition in relationship to human culture through education, research, spiritual formation and outreach programs. Saint Michael's College chorus

By exploring the richness of the Catholic tradition and engaging in dialogue with contemporary society, the Center endeavors to relate the values of the Catholic tradition to prevailing cultural realities. The Center’s programs promote the search for truth and meaning and the interaction of faith and culture in a mutually enriching encounter.

Drawing on Catholicism’s richness, history and tradition, the Center fosters dialogue among people of various cultural and religious traditions, and offers a place where the honest exchange of ideas can occur in an atmosphere of respect for our common humanity and quest for meaning.

By supporting educational and research activities that combine excellence in humanistic and cultural development, the Center affirms its commitment to ongoing reflection on human knowledge in light of the Catholic faith, recognizing that faith animates culture and culture contributes to faith.

The Center gives particular attention to promoting a greater understanding of and appreciation for the Catholic tradition among members of the College community, and thereby assists the community in its integration of faith and life.

The Center serves the wider community beyond the campus through programs and initiatives that engage the local Catholic Church, other Christian churches, the Jewish community, and other major religious communities in activities exploring issues at the intersection of religion and American society.
