Common Problems Students Encounter During Registration

You may receive this message for one of the following reasons:

You did not meet with advisor, and/or your advisor did not give your electronic clearance.

Solution: You should contact advisor ASAP.

You are attempting to register at the wrong time.

Solution: Double check your email regarding your registration time and contact the Registrar’s Office with any follow-up questions.

You have a hold on registration from Student Financial Services, Student Health Services, or another office on campus.

Solution: You should contact the appropriate office (as directed by KnightVision Self-Service) to find out what steps you need to take to clear the hold.

You may not be able to register for a class for one or more of the following reasons:

The class has already reached its enrollment cap.

The course has a prerequisite that you have not satisfied.

There is a class level (e.g. Juniors/Seniors only) or major/minor (e.g. Business Administration majors only) restriction on the course.

There is a time conflict between the course and another course you are registered for.

Solution(s): Continue to check KnightVision Self-Service for seats in the course or changes in the restrictions. You may also fill out the Permission & Petition Form, accessible through the mySMC portal.
