Location

Welcome to Vermont!

Close to downtown Burlington and the Lake Champlain waterfront, the Saint Michael’s College campus strikes the perfect balance between the bustle of a busy college town and a retreat in the shadow of Vermont’s spectacular Green Mountains.

Getting Here

Saint Michael’s College is easy to reach by air, rail or car. Our campus is just 3 miles from Burlington International Airport (BTV), five miles from Amtrak’s Essex Junction, VT station, and a morning’s drive from Boston, Montreal, or New York City. Visit our driving directions page for specific routes.

The City of Burlington

Just west of campus and dubbed one of the most livable cities with one of the nation’s most vibrant downtowns, Burlington beckons residents and travelers of all ages. There are four college campuses in town, including the University of Vermont. The Church Street Marketplace, open to pedestrian traffic only, offers up hip new music and dining options, as well as homegrown boutique and national retail shopping, in an historic cobblestone-street setting.

You can tour the waterfront on a chartered sail or tour boat, or sit on benches along the waterfront and watch the city’s renowned summer sunsets. For more information on Burlington and Lake Champlain, visit www.vermont.org.

Four-Season Recreation

After hours or on weekends, Saint Michael’s is the perfect place to launch your exploration of Vermont and the great outdoors, whether you are up for a stroll down an historic village main street, or a wilderness hike into the mountains on Vermont’s famed Long Trail. Our campus also lies within 45-minutes of some of the East Coast’s most popular ski resorts, including the Stowe Mountain Resort and Sugarbush Ski Resort; and they’re not just winter attractions. At the Stowe Mountain Resort you can drive up Mount Mansfield for superb views of the valley below, or whoosh down the 2,300-foot alpine slide on Spruce Peak. The village of Stowe is itself an internationally known travel destination, with upscale shops and restaurants.

North of Burlington lies Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom – with pristine roadways and hiking and biking trails and quaint country inns. To the south you’ll find Montpelier, the nation’s smallest capital city, and southwest is Addison County, an agricultural valley that stretches from the mountains to the lake.

For those intrigued by history or the arts, Vermont’s small towns abound with the lore of their historic residents – from Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys to Vanderbilt and Rockefeller estates – and the lure of antique and crafts shops that dot the roadways.
