Confidentiality

In most circumstances, information that you discuss with your personal counselor at The Bergeron Wellness Center is CONFIDENTIAL and PRIVATE.

However there are some circumstances when the counseling staff CANNOT keep information confidential. These circumstances are outlined below.

We CANNOT guarantee confidentiality if:

  • We believe you might be of harm to yourself or may cause harm to others.
  • Your records are subpoenaed by a Court of Law/Court Order.
  • You provide us with information regarding situations of potential child or elder abuse. The law views us as “Mandated Reporters” in such cases, requiring that we make official report of such potential abuse within 24 hours.
  • You report a situation concerning another person who might be harmful to himself/herself or to others.

Note: With your written permission, we may consult with other care providers on or off campus on your behalf.
