Grace Taferner Hoefig ‘81 is a Senior Vice President, portfolio manager and former Director of Research Franklin Equity. She manages the Franklin Mutual Shares and Franklin Mutual
U.S. Mid Cap Value strategies. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton in February 2008 Grace was a managing director at AXIA Capital Management LLC. Previously, she held senior analyst positions at Heine Securities Co., First Manhattan Co. and Neuberger & Berman.

As a student, Grace was a member of the field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams and co-captain of both sports her senior year. Additionally, she was a member of the Crown and Sword Society. Her favorite professor was John Carvellas (even though she was an environmental science major). John spent 4 years trying to convince Grace that she should be an Economics major! When a scholarship was created in his honor upon his retirement, Grace was one of the first people to support it. As an alumnus, Grace has given back to St. Mike’s as a volunteer for alumni phonathons, career advisory network and Reunion. In 2021, she was part of a panel to celebrate 50 years of women at St. Mike’s and International Women’s Day saying this “I have always liked to be associated with people that have a sense of purpose to their life and a strong sense of community. The friends I made during my time at SMC (it all started in Lyons!) are still important relationships to me 40 years later. In fact, of that original Lyons group of friends, 10 of them are here for this reunion!! When I think back on our 18-year-old selves and see where we all are today, families created, careers that flourished, hardships overcome, I am truly grateful for the values instilled from my time at Saint Michael’s

Grace lives in Annandale, NJ with her husband Donald and has two sons, Kurt and Brandon.
