Saint Michael’s College proudly recognizes Jerome P. Monachino ’91, M’97, P’22, P‘25 as Alumnus of the Year, honoring his remarkable contributions to the College and his enduring impact on generations of students, alumni, and the broader community.

A deeply engaged student during his time at Saint Michael’s, Jerome has carried forward his commitment to the College’s mission throughout his life and career. Since joining the staff in 1992, he has served the community with dedication and distinction, currently serving as Associate Director of Campus Ministry and Director of Liturgical Music.
For more than three decades, Jerome has played a central role in shaping the spiritual life of Saint Michael’s College. Through music, he has created spaces for reflection, joy, and connection—bringing the community together in ways that are both deeply personal and profoundly shared. His leadership in liturgical music has become a defining element of the St. Mike’s experience, enriching campus traditions and strengthening the bonds of the worshipping community.

An immensely talented musician, Jerome’s influence extends well beyond campus, with a distinguished performance career that reflects both his artistry and passion. Yet it is his presence at Saint Michael’s—as a mentor, collaborator, and steady guide—that has left the deepest mark. Students, colleagues, and alumni alike have benefited from his wisdom, generosity, and ability to foster a sense of belonging.
Jerome’s commitment to Saint Michael’s is also reflected in his family, who have been an integral part of the College community. He and his wife, Claire (Pitts) ’97, have shared in this journey, and their children, Olivia ’22 and Dominic ’25, have continued the family’s legacy at St. Mike’s, often joining him in sharing their musical gifts with the community.

Through his decades of service, Jerome Monachino has exemplified the values at the heart of Saint Michael’s College: community, faith, creativity, and care for others. His work has not only enriched the life of the College but has also helped define what it means to be part of the St. Mike’s family—making him a most deserving recipient of the Alumni of the Year Award.
